This year, the message of LIAM is particularly significant. In these tough economic times, when many Americans' savings and investments have eroded, some have considered putting off buying life insurance, or letting their existing policies lapse. Yet that would be a critical mistake. "Like credit, life insurance should be obtained when you least need it," said Kathryn S. Head, Chairman of First Investors Corporation, "because it may be impossible to get once you do." By obtaining life insurance now, you can avoid the possibility of future uninsurability, and have that life insurance protection going forward. After all, no one can predict what will happen tomorrow, next month, or next year.

New York, NY, February 4, 2009 - Valentine's Day is a time when many people's thoughts turn to love, and how to best express that love. First Investors believes the most meaningful, long-lasting present people can give their loved ones is not flowers or candy, or even diamonds. It's life insurance.
There's no better way to say, "I love you" than a gift that can help protect a family's future, even in the most unexpected of circumstances. Purchasing life insurance is truly a sign of selfless love. Proceeds from life insurance can be used to help preserve a family's standard of living, as well as cover outstanding debts, mortgage obligations and children's future educational costs should the policyholder pass away.
New York, NY, October 15, 2008 - Congress has declared October 19-25, 2008 to be National Save for Retirement Week. Currently, traditional sources of retirement income-such as corporate pensions and Social Security-are being called into question, while many costs, such as health care, are rising. This initiative reflects the need for Americans to take a more active approach in preparing for their own retirement.
"Now that many of the 79 million members of the Baby Boom generation are approaching retirement, the question about how retirees will support themselves in an era of dwindling pensions and rising health care costs has become a vital topic," says Robert M. Flanagan, President of First Investors Corporation. New York, NY, August 1, 2008 - It's that time again: Back to School. As thoughts turn to the classroom, First Investors is helping clients find ways to finance their children's higher education.
Many parents of young children are concerned about the costs of higher education. According to the College Board, average tuition and fees for in-state students at public four-year colleges and universities in 2007-08 were $6,185-that's 6.6% higher than they were in 2006-07. Average total charges, including tuition and fees and room and board, were $13,589-that's 5.9% higher than a year earlier. And total charges at a private four-year university could set a family back an average of $32,307 per year.
New York, NY, April 22, 2008 - April is National Financial Literacy Month, and First Investors is reaching out to educate its clients on important financial issues.
With many Americans overburdened by debt, questions swirling about Social Security, and pensions on the wane, there's more apprehension than ever about savings and preparing for retirement. Yet many individuals remain uninformed about personal money management. In a 2007 study conducted on behalf of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), a greater proportion of the population (44%) had watched NASCAR than had used a retirement calculator (28%).
New York, NY, January 2, 2008 - First Investors is encouraging all clients to get a financial "checkup." What is meant by a checkup is a meeting with a financial services representative to review one's current investments and life insurance coverage, and consider if changes are needed.
"Clients should periodically meet with their representatives to evaluate their financial strategy," said Robert M. Flanagan, President of First Investors Corporation. "With the New Year here, now's an excellent time to schedule that meeting."

New York, NY, August 27, 2007 - First Investors has reopened the Insured Tax Exempt Fund (FITE) to new investors. FITE had been closed for several years except in cases of investments of $1 million or more.
"We're happy to make FITE available to all investors," said Kathryn S. Head, Chairman. "Now, clients have two national tax-exempt funds from which to choose."
New York, NY, August 10, 2007 - To enhance its mutual fund product offerings, First Investors has made several changes to its fund lineup. Below is an outline of the changes:
Insured Tax Exempt Fund (FITE), which began operations in 1971, has reopened to new investors. FITE was closed to new investors (except in cases of investments of $1 million or more) for several years. Now, investors seeking a national tax-exempt fund have two funds from which to choose: FITE and FITE II. The Fund, which is managed by Clark Wagner, seeks a high level of interest income that is exempt from federal income tax and is not a tax preference item for purposes of the federal Alternative Minimum Tax ("AMT"), and, secondarily, total return.
New York, NY, July 30, 2007 - First Investors' headquarters has relocated to 110 Wall Street in the heart of New York City's financial district. The Company now occupies the entire fourth floor and half of the fifth floor of this building.
"First Investors has been a part of the Wall Street community for many years, and we're happy that we could remain in this vibrant neighborhood," said Kathryn S. Head, Chairman.
New York, NY, June 25, 2007 - First Investors has opened its doors on a new sales office to serve clients in the Los Angeles area. The office will be co-managed by Stuart Johnson and Kristin Salinas Salvaggio.
"The opening of the Los Angeles office allows us to expand our presence on the west coast in order to meet the needs of our growing base of clients," said Robert M. Flanagan, President of First Investors. "We congratulate Stu and Kristin on their promotion and wish them well with their new responsibilities."
