First Investors Corporation: First Investors National Tax Exempt Funds Are Reviewed in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine

New York, NY, May 20, 2009 - The First Investors Insured Tax Exempt Fund II (EIITX) and the First Investors Insured Tax Exempt Fund (FITAX) were ranked first and fifth, respectively, in the long-term municipal bond fund category in the May issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine.

Kiplinger's ranked the funds based on one-year total return through March 6, 2009. Total return assumed reinvestment of all dividends and capital gains, and reflected ongoing expenses but not sales charges.

Clark D. Wagner has served as the Portfolio Manager of both the First Investors Insured Tax Exempt Fund (FITAX) and First Investors Insured Tax Exempt Fund II (EIITX) since 1991. He also serves as Director of Fixed Income of First Investors Management Company, Inc.

Robert M. Flanagan, President of First Investors Corporation, said, "While we are pleased our Funds have been recognized by a national publication, we caution investors against basing investment decisions on these distinctions. Investors should base their financial decisions on their own needs and goals."

The First Investors National Tax Exempt Funds are appropriate for investors who are seeking interest income that is exempt from federal income tax and is not a tax preference item for purposes of the federal alternative minimum tax (AMT). The Tax Exempt Fund II has a secondary objective of total return.
