First Investors Select Growth Fund Makes Top 20 ListNew York, NY, July 27, 2011 - The First Investors Select Growth Fund Class A (FICGX) was ranked seventh out of the top 20 U.S. Large-Cap Mutual Funds in 2011 in an article published by The Wall Street Journal on July 1, 2011. The Wall Street Journal article noted that outperforming the S&P 500 Index has been challenging this year, with less than 40% of large-cap mutual funds beating the benchmark's total return of 4.96%. The First Investors Select Growth Fund joined the list of the top 20 actively managed large-cap mutual funds for the period January 1, 2011 through June 28, 2011, as ranked by Morningstar (three-, five- and ten-year returns were annualized to determine these rankings). According to Morningstar, all references to a fund's total return represent its gains over the specified time period and include both dividends and capital gains or losses. Morningstar does not adjust total return for sales charges or redemption fees. Smith Asset Management Group, L.P. is the investment subadviser of the First Investors Select Growth Fund. The Fund has been managed by a team of investment professionals, who have an equal role in managing the Fund, since 2007. Christopher H. Pinkerton, President of First Investors, noted, "We are pleased that the Select Growth Fund outperformed many of its peers and proud that the Fund has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal. Adding the Select Growth Fund to a well-diversified portfolio can be a smart move for many investors since the Fund offers growth potential with a moderate level of risk."
